Treehouse Design Award Winning Rug

We caught up with Theresa Morris from Treehouse Sporting Colours to find out more about this exciting product.

How do you feel winning the award?
We are delighted to win the 2018 Innovation Award for the Cooling Rug especially that this year there were so many strong innovative products within our category.

What inspired you to come up with the design?
The Rug is a natural progression from the 2016 Award winning AeroChill Cooling Boots.
The material Hyperkewl has been used by Special Forces and Formula 1 drivers over the past 18 years to keep them cool. We have designed the rug to cool the horse down post competition, exercise or travelling in hot weather. The rug needs to be wet and also have an air flow, so it is ideal to have on while walking off or while traveling with a window down.

How can it help grooms / competition horses?
• It is designed to aid in cooling the horse and helping muscle recovery.
• Helps in alleviating heat exhaustion.
• Excellent to use pre-competition to keep your horse cool to help gain maximum performance.
• Aerochill is a super absorbent polymer fibre fabric which works by latent evaporation pulling heat from the horse and evaporating off the outside of the rug and improving blood circulation.
• Great to use when travelling horses in hot conditions.
• Easy to use, simply pour water over the rug and put straight on the horse. For the rug to keep working it must be kept wet.

When will it be available on the market?
